An eclectic street of shops and market stalls, and the subject of a bangin song by Eddy Grant and the original home of Wynne Digital. On the 15th of June 2020 London came out of its first lockdown and retail shops opened their doors for the first time in months. On the same day Caleb publicly launched Wynne Digital from his bedroom looking out over Electric Avenue.
In September 2020 an old friend/client of Caleb’s from bloom’d in Northcote reached out to engage him in SEO. Some quick wins and the Wynne Digital & bloom’d partnership was starting to blossom. Pun very much intended. This would give WD the stability to grow a little further.
November 2020 and the bedroom felt it wasn’t the right space for an actual real life digital marketing agency time for an office. After touring a few coworking spaces in Brixton, Caleb opted to go with Brixton Castle. It felt like the right cultural fit, fun start-ups, dark moody aesthetic, dog friendly, and free beer. The decision wasn’t at all completely based on the free beer. Quickly Caleb helped Brixton Castle go from 1 lead every 3 days to an average 3 leads per day scoring himself a “free desk”.
Hilarious name, a caffeine level that’d bring the dead back to life and a free mug offer too good to refuse. Big Dick’s Coffee needed to get their product in front of people quickly. In Jan 2021 they partnered with Wynne Digital for social ads. 26 mins after the ads were approved the free mug offer had caught fire and started selling. The next month revenue was up 25%.
Was time to pack’er up and head home to Aus. In April 2021 Caleb headed back to Melbourne, via a 2 week quarantine in Howard Springs. Turns out 2 weeks caged up is the perfect time to setup a business entity in Australia.
June 2021 Caleb and his best friend Kyran (creative director at The Incubator) headed off on a road trip around Australia. Highlights included taking calls from clients at Uluru, publishing ads from the daintree rainforest. Lowlights included losing access to the authenticator app and Caleb having to drive 3 hours each way to Katherine to have his phone repaired so he could login and meet deadlines.
By October 2021 WD had grown to a point that Caleb couldn’t manage everything himself. A few interviews and one person stood out. Mostly due to the fact she seemed like a legend and was definitely up for a chat about AFL. With that Madeline joined WD and it was a team of 2.
With lockdowns ending and everyone heading back to the office. WD setup shop with their friends at the Incubator in their South Melbourne Office. Thrilled to be near the market and so many great pubs.
November 2021 working with the fantastic team at The Incubator WD started running social ads for Love Luna & Ambra. After the impact of lockdowns they wanted to ensure they didn’t have to rely on only retail. Helping both businesses smash their Black Friday goals WD started working with them long term. Since then both businesses have had record months of online sales.
There are certain achievements in any digital marketing agency, first client, first retainer. But you haven’t really truly made it until you have a table tennis table in the office. July 2022 the momentous day occurred.
The Mavens is a publication that champions Women in the advertising and media industry. In 2022 they published their first magazine. WD was extremely proud to come onboard as a silver sponsor.
